Vet Laura Keyser, who has more than 15 years experience, has launched Claro Hill Vets - a new practice in Pannal, near Harrogate, Yorkshire.<br/>It has three modern consultation rooms, including one for cats only, two operating theatres, separate dog kennels and a quiet cattery, a dental room with dental x-ray in-house laboratory and a state-of-the-art imaging suite, which includes digital x-ray and a CT scanner. <br/>Claro Hill offers an outpatient service so other practices in the area can send pets for a 3D CT scan and report, adding another string to their bow.<br/>With private parking outside the door, electric chargers and good accessibility, it serves Harrogate, Wetherby, Otley, Knaresborough and North Leeds areas. <br/>It is based in Units 7 and 8, Thirkill Park, Thirkill Drive, Pannal HG3 1GQ.<br/>The team consists of another experienced vet, Heather, two registered veterinary nurses Stacey and Kathryn, as well as receptionists and Veterinary Care Assistants (VCA) Debbie, Georgina and Molly.<br/>

_quarter-of-menopausal-women-get-39second-wave-of-sisterhood39-from-the-experience.webp "A quarter of women experiencing menopause say the best thing about it is getting a ‘second wave of sisterhood’, according to research.<br/><br/>A study of 2,000 who are peri-menopausal, menopausal or who have had the menopause, found 14 per cent have made more friends by sharing their experiences of the life stage than they could ever have imagined.<br/><br/>While three in 10 admitted it felt like a new community of people formed around them – women who were experiencing the same things and who wanted to share their journey.<br/><br/>With 64 per cent feeling the recent rise of celebrities such as Linda Barker and Davina McCall talking openly about what has happened to them has had a positive impact.<br/><br/>And although menopause, with its 62 symptoms, brings with it a host of problems, 61 per cent admit they are more than willing to share what is happening to them with friends, family and work colleagues.<br/><br/>The research was carried out by hygiene and health company Essity, which continues its quest to keep the conversation about menopause open.<br/><br/>Spokeswoman Debbie Thomas said: “Menopause can clearly be a challenge for a lot of women and we certainly don’t want to suggest that it can be an easy time for those experiencing it.<br/><br/>“But as we can see from our research, there is comfort to be had from sharing stories with others in the same boat.<br/><br/>“And women are no longer as embarrassed to talk about what is happening to them as previous generations might have been – it feels like that mindset of hiding the truth is finally changing.”<br/><br/>The research found for those first experiencing menopause symptoms, feelings were overwhelmingly negative at first – with 36 per cent worried it made them old, 18 per cent upset and one in 10 in denial.<br/><br/>But 26 per cent of those polled, via OnePoll.com, were quickly surprised to discover how open some women are when discussing their experiences.<br/><br/>And it only took around three months before they became comfortable sharing their own stories.<br/><br/>By doing so, these women immediately felt supported by others (43 per cent), as well as a sense of solidarity (37 per cent).<br/><br/>Women are most likely to talk to their female friends about their experiences (71 per cent), but 40 per cent will chat to work colleagues, happily so in a workplace setting (38 per cent).<br/><br/>It emerged 41 per cent tended to stay on the sidelines of any conversation they were hearing about menopause soon after realising they also had symptoms – but 42 per cent are generally relieved when others open up as it makes them feel more normal.<br/><br/>As well as feeling reassured (29 per cent) and supported (27 per cent), 63 per cent admitted talking with like-minded people about what they are going through is as important to their mental health and well-being as any medication could be.<br/><br/>Sharon Clapp, 56, from Sidmouth, trained as a menopause practitioner after going through the menopause early due to a hysterectomy. <br/><br/>She said: “I trained as a menopause practitioner, I’m not a qualified GP - I don’t prescribe, or tell people that’s what they should be doing. <br/><br/>\")

It does this while also working hard to deliver emergency care to over seven million people living in the region amid some of the most challenging times in the NHS’s 75-year history. <br/><br/>It’s just after 5pm, and reports of a male lying face down in the road come into control. Advanced paramedic Amy, who attends the most life-threatening emergencies, is immediately dispatched. Amy arrives and takes the lead. CPR continues, but the patient’s heartbeat is irregular. Amy makes the decision to drive the patient to hospital for a last attempt to save his life. <br/><br/>As the night shift begins, 82 patients are waiting for an ambulance, with a new call being taken every 30 seconds. <br/><br/>Paramedics Cameron and Kiera are called to a category 2 emergency – a nine-year-old girl with a bowel blockage. On arrival, they discover the patient has been suffering for months and not getting the help she needs, despite her mum’s best efforts. Despite her discomfort, the crew manage to tease a smile from their young patient when they discuss her brother's upcoming wedding and ask to see the beautiful dress she’ll be wearing – they’re determined she will be better in time to make the wedding in five days' time. <br/><br/>Across the region, over a quarter of all ambulance crews currently treating patients are queuing at hospitals, and 46 patients are waiting for an ambulance. Meanwhile, one of the call handlers is on the phone with a verbally abusive patient who has called the service 35 times in the last year, and dispatcher Vicki despairs when she has a job come through for somebody with athlete's foot. <br/><br/>Paramedic Kelsea and newly qualified paramedic Bushra are dispatched to a 40-year-old male, unconscious, not breathing and bleeding from the head. Due to the severity of the call, senior paramedic Debbie is also dispatched. The patient is bleeding heavily from a fall after a seizure. Debbie, Kelsea and Bushra work to stem the blood. Despite all this, he is initially reluctant to go to hospital for further investigation. <br/><br/>Dispatcher Gary sends Bushra and Kelsea to an 82-year-old lady who has had a fall. On arrival, they discover she has been on the floor all night. She didn’t call because she thought the effects of the fall might wear off, and the paramedics gently admonish her, saying she should have called for help straight away. <br/><br/>Four hours into the day shift, call volume has nearly doubled. Paramedics Cameron and Kiera are dispatched to a 57-year-old male with abdominal pain who is fighting for breath. On arrival, they discover their patient has lost five stone in just four and a half months and is in constant chronic pain – but every time he takes himself")
