Today's headlines with Liana Jacob - Wednesday, April 3, 2024.
A woman from Leeds went missing yesterday as West Yorkshire Police are appealing for information. Molly Garbutt was last seen driving in her black Renault Clio on April 2 wearing pink leggings, a brown velvet thigh length coat and white boots. Anyone with information as to her whereabouts or anyone who believes they may have seen Molly are urged to contact the police.

An inspirational woman who for years was bullied for her appearance and learning disability is now a high flying model. Leeds-born Laura Shaw, who now works as a freelance model, was dubbed ‘ugly’ and ‘thick’ by her peers at school and was told by a teacher that she ‘wouldn’t get far in life due to her disability. These comments have now served as motivation for Laura to pursue her dreams of being a model and she is now featured on billboards and at fashion shows.

LNER is set to place hundreds of thousands of tickets on sale for summer this year following a very popular year in 2023 when more than six million journeys were made between June and August last year. Tickets for many LNER weekday and weekend services up to and including Friday, September 6 this year will be available to purchase from this Thursday (April 4).

Finally, a woman who died in hospital after a serious crash in Keighley last week has been named by the West Yorkshire Police. Joan McIerny was seriously injured when she was hit by a Toyota Yaris in a crash at the junction between Long Lee Lane and Cherry Tree Rise at around 6.15pm on March 25. Joan died in hospital on Saturday March 30. She was 81 years old. The driver of the Yaris stopped at the scene and has been interviewed by the police who are still appealing for witnesses of the incident.

Just forty seven percent of local road miles were rated as being in a good condition, with thirty six percent adequate and seventeen percent poor. But, the rate at which roads are being repaired is up to its highest level in eight years, with the amount local councils are spending on improvements also increased across the board.
