The ordinance requires rates of $1.40 per mile and $0.51 per minute, or $5 per ride, exceeding what a state study said was needed to meet the $15.57 minimum wage. Gov. Walz is concerned about the effects on transportation access if Ube and Lyft leave the metro area of 3 million people. He advocated for a resolution through compromise with the Minneapolis City Council, rather than state legislative intervention, as the most effective approach to address the issue.
