Saptarshi, also known as Tojo, kept everyone around him on their toes with his quick wit and high sense of humour. Despite his seemingly casual and easy-going demeanour, he took his duties seriously and approached his responsibilities with enthusiasm. He enjoyed his drills and even the punishments at the Academies, always taking everything with a pinch of humour. Commissioned in the Corps of Ordnance on December 6, 1997, Capt. Saptarshi Dhar was serving the mandatory infantry attachment with 4/8 GR. The experiences of Operation Vijay in August 1999 deeply affected him, transforming the jovial young man into someone who grieved the loss of many friends and colleagues. After a short break, Dhar returned to his unit, which had moved to one of the forwardmost locations in the valley.
