Toyota's venerable off-roader gets a new redesign, a new hybrid powertrain, and tougher Trailhunter trim.<br/><br/>The last time the Toyota 4Runner came out new, President Obama was new to the Oval Office and the Black Eyed Peas were at the top of the Billboard charts. This was 15 years ago. There's now a new 4Runner – finally – and even though Toyota has rebuilt its iconic off-roader from the ground up, it retains its rugged spirit.<br/><br/>Also based on the new Tacoma, the 2025 4Runner uses the same TNGA-F truck architecture. It ditches the old 4.0-liter V-6 and five-speed automatic in favor of a standard turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine that produces 278 horsepower and 378 pound-feet of torque. That's 8 more hp than the current 4Runner and a whopping 100 additional pound-feet.<br/><br/>The optional I-Force Max hybrid version of the same engine produces 326 hp and 465 lb-ft. Both of these powertrains ditch the old five-speed in favor of a new eight-speed automatic transmission. Unfortunately, there is no manual to be found.<br/><br/>The 4Runner will be offered with two-wheel drive, part-time four-wheel drive and full-time four-wheel drive, depending on how you specify it. All 2WD models will feature a limited-slip differential, while 4WD models will feature the same LSD and electronically controlled two-speed transfer case with high- and low-range gearing, as well as Toyota's Active Traction Control (A-Trac).<br/><br/>There's also what Toyota calls the new Stabilizer Bar Disconnect Mechanism for better articulation. This one-button access system allows the 4Runner to flex while keeping its tires on the ground. The 4Runner has a 32-degree approach and 24-degree departure angle.<br/><br/>And the new 4Runner promises to be even more capable. Mud, Dirt and Sand modes and a quieter Crawl Control function join the party in 2025, while new Trailhunter hardware (borrowed from the Tacoma) joins the rest of the lineup. It always felt strange that the Volkswagen Golf R had more power than the fancier (and slightly pricier) Audi S3. But that's no longer the case. Ingolstadt's sports sedan gets a mid-cycle facelift for the 2025 model year that brings more horsepower and some extra torque to boot.<br/><br/>At the heart of the 2025 Audi S3 is an uprated turbocharged 2.0-liter gasoline engine making 328 horsepower and an estimated 310 pound-feet of torque. That's an increase of 22 hp and 15 lb-ft, enough to make the S3 stronger than a Golf R (315 hp and 295 lb-ft)—for now. VW's hot hatch is due for a facelift later this year, so there might be some extra power planned there too. In Europe, there are already special editions with 328 hp, matching the new S3.<br/><br/>The RS3's rear torque splitter trickles down to the lesser performance derivative. The technology enables fully variable torque distribution between the rear wheels. In conjunction with the newly added Dynamic Plus mode, the car sends as much torque as possible to the rear axle for a tail-happy experience. Audi doesn't call it a dedicated drift mode but does mention the S3 now has the tendency to oversteer when the sportiest settings are active.<br/><br/>Elsewhere, the 2.0 TFSI engine idles at 1,300 rpm (up by 200 rpm) for better off-the-line performance and the engineers have made the throttle response even more direct. In addition, the gear ratios are slightly shorter than before and the new S3 upshifts later and downshifts earlier to maintain a higher rpm for greater power availability.<br/><br/>It takes 4.4 seconds to hit 60 mph from a standstill, making it a tenth of a second quicker than the 2024 S3. The top speed remains unchanged, at 155 mph. There are now 235/35 Falken performance tires for the 19-inch wheels, along with bigger front brakes with perforated discs and new two-piston calipers. Audi is also fitting an evolution of the S3's electronic stability control system and stiffer bearings for the wishbone suspension to improve handling.<br/><br/>As before, we only get the four-door flavor in the United States, but the five-door Sportback also gets an update in Europe. There are some subtle styling changes to bring the S3 in line with the recently launched 2025 A3. It gets customizable LED daytime running lights by choosing from four designs via the infotainment system. The taillights show a different animation when you lock/unlock the car, and there are four fresh colors: Ascari Blue, District Green, Arkona White, and Progressive Red.<br/><br/>An ambient lighting package will be standard in the United States but that flat-bottomed steering wheel is going to cost you extra. Unlike the Golf R, there are still plenty of physical buttons below the 10.1-inch touchscreen. With the 2025MY, LED contour lighting has been added to the center console and cup holders. Even better, Abarth has announced it will make it, but only five will be built.<br/><br/>If you think the beautiful yellow coupe looks familiar, that's because it's essentially a hardtop version of 2022's Abarth Classiche 1000 SP, itself a nod to another of the company's mid-century racers.<br/><br/>This car, of which five will be produced, was actually a redesigned Alfa Romeo 4C, and although Abarth has yet to reveal any further details about the 1300 OT, it's almost certainly the same story. That means a carbon tub and mid-mounted 1.8-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine producing 237 hp, a six-speed dual-clutch transmission, and almost certainly a curb weight of under a tonne.<br/><br/>Homages to the original 1300 OT include a toned-down version of the distinctive 'periscope' air intake and what looks like a proper clamshell rear section.<br/><br/>The Classiche 1300 OT is available to order now, although only five sets will be made so you better be quick if you want it. Rich Man Has Pininfarina Crafts Bespoke Reversario Opposite Anniversary.<br/>The owner of the fifth Battista Anniversario has put the twin of his electric hypercar into service.<br/><br/>Automobili Pininfarina has created a one-off order of the Battista electric hypercar for a private customer who already owns the Anniversario.<br/>Nicknamed Reversario, this vehicle has the exact opposite features compared to its Anniversarios.<br/>The lucky owner of the Anniversario and Reversario duo claims that the twin models “can never be separated because they are truly integral in design.”<br/>If you are entering the market for dedicated hypercars such as the Pininfarina Battista, you may have the privilege of being deeply involved in the development process; this can spark interesting ideas. That's what happened when the owner of the fifth of five Anniversario special editions ordered another example of the electric hypercar and asked Automobili Pininfarina designers to create the exact opposite: the Reversario.<br/><br/>The Pininfarina Battista Anniversario was released in 2020, celebrating the company's 90th anniversary, with a special livery and limited production of five units. As the name suggests, Battista Reversario creates the perfect twin by reversing the colors of the original.<br/><br/>The main bodywork and five-spoke wheels are painted in Bianco Sestiere gloss, while the upper part is painted in Grigio Antonelliano gloss. Like the original, the Iconica Blu stripe highlights the dual-tone finish with matching accents around the body. Additionally, a unique badge has been added to the lower part of the active rear spoiler, as well as the Reversario lettering on the carbon side wings.<br/><br/>The Reversario's interior is also the exact opposite of the black-themed Anniversario; It has white Alcantara and leather upholstery. STI Sport Black Interior Selection is now available for the Japanese-spec Subaru Forester.<br/><br/>The fifth-generation Subaru Forester continues to experience another model year in Japan with its carried over design and powertrains.<br/>Model year updates include the addition of the new STI Sport Black Interior Selection special edition.<br/>The US-spec Forester Wilderness' Geyser Blue is available only for Japan-spec X-Edition and XT-Edition models.<br/>Subaru may have introduced the new sixth generation of the Forester in North America, but Japanese buyers will have to make do with the current model, which has been on the market since 2018. The domestic version Forester will receive minor model year updates for 2024, including the new STI Sport. A Black Interior Select trim is available, adopting an all-black theme for the cabin.<br/><br/>The exterior of the SUV remains unchanged since its last facelift in 2021. All trims of the Forester come standard with Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system.<br/><br/>Pricing for the 2024 Subaru Forester in Japan starts at ¥3,069,000 ($20,040). As for special trims, the X-Edition starts at ¥3,377,000 ($22,051), the XT-Edition starts at ¥3,432,000 ($22,411), and the STI Sport Black Interior Select starts at ¥3,850,000 ($25,137).<br/><br/>This may be the last model year of the fifth-generation Subaru Forester in the Japanese market. We've spent a lot of time in XC40s over the years, and their seats are among the best on the market; offers plenty of power adjustments as well as an extendable seat base; Ideal for tall drivers.<br/><br/>Although theoretically no different from the XC40, we'll need more time to make a more definitive judgment on comfort with this newly updated Volvo.<br/><br/>Volvos are renowned for their safety, and there's little to suggest the EX40 will be any different.
