_rylan-clark-achieves-lifelong-dream-of-becoming-an-airline-cabin-crew-for-one-day-only.webp "Rylan Clark achieved his lifelong dream of becoming an airline cabin crew – for one day only.<br/><br/>Customers on a Virgin Atlantic flight from London to Miami were welcomed by the much-loved TV star dressed head to toe in the airline’s iconic Vivienne Westwood uniform.<br/> <br/>The presenter took part in a staff training session alongside the Economy team while at 38,000ft - learning how to deliver a warm welcome and announcements over the PA.<br/> <br/>It comes as research among 2,000 adults found 66 per cent reckon the overall onboard experience can 'make or break' a holiday.<br/><br/>Ombi Farr, flight service manager at Virgin Atlantic, said, “It was a pleasure having Rylan onboard to test out his service skills and see if he can embody our unique red spirit. <br/><br/>“We want all of our customers to feel special when they fly with us - no matter which cabin they’re in - and Rylan really did go the extra mile to do that. <br/><br/>“He brought the energy, warmth and fun that our customers know and love.” <br/><br/>Putting his height to good use by helping passengers stow hand luggage in the overhead lockers, Rylan made a good impression on the crew - even adding his signature style to the drinks service and providing some surprises with mid-flight ice lollies.<br/><br/>But like any new starter, there was room for development as the crew caught Rylan taking a sneaky unscheduled snack break to enjoy the Mile High afternoon tea, and getting caught up with families enjoying the in-flight kids’ packs. <br/><br/>It comes after the study, commissioned by the airline, found a warm and welcoming cabin crew (75 per cent), good food and drink (61 per cent), and small and personal touches to make people feel special (41 per cent) are important factors in gaining a positive in-flight experience.<br/><br/>While 49 per cent believe their holiday starts the moment they arrive at the airport, with 80 per cent claiming a great flight means they enjoy their holiday more.<br/><br/>And nine in 10 even said it can make them feel more relaxed, according to the OnePoll.com data.<br/><br/>Corneel Koster, Virgin Atlantic’s chief customer and operating officer, said: “A journey truly comes to life the moment our customers step on to the plane, and we want to make sure that everyone enjoys a special experience - no matter what cabin they’re travelling in. <br/><br/>“Rylan has that natural warmth and amazing personality that our crew are famous for and with a little more training I’m confident he’ll earn his Virgin Atlantic wings.”")

As you might expect, the instrument cluster is a digital affair, with two 14.3-inch displays combined to form a large screen that takes up most of the dashboard. A third 9.0-inch display sits at the front of the center console, tilted upward to form the basis of operations for the QX80's climate controls, heated/cooled seat functions, and driving modes.<br/><br/>The technology train doesn't stop with cameras. The QX80 literally keeps passengers cool with Biometric Cooling; Infrared sensors in the headliner detect when someone is hot and automatically adjust personal climate settings. Heated and cooled seats also help with this up front, and in the new QX80 you'll find heated seats well behind the third row. Massage seats are available for second-row passengers, and everyone can take advantage of the 24-speaker, 1,200-watt Klipsch audio system. This is optional on all but the top-end Autograph trim, but the standard system is still a 600-watt, 14-speaker trim.<br/><br/>Infiniti InTouch with Google Built-in runs the show. Wireless Apple CarPlay or Android Auto is standard, and a number of Infiniti driver assistance and safety systems that came with ProPilot 1.1 are upgraded to ProPilot 2.1, and you get hands-free driving in certain situations. There's also an optional head-up display for the first time.<br/><br/>The old 5.6-liter V-8 engine is gone, replaced by a twin-turbocharged 3.5-liter V-6 that produces 450 horsepower and 516 pound-feet of torque. That's a notable increase over the V-8, and it sends power to either the rear wheels or all four wheels via a 9-speed automatic transmission. Infiniti says the body-on-frame structure has 57 percent more lateral stiffness than the outgoing model, and when equipped with air suspension, the QX80 lowers itself 1.2 inches at higher speed for better efficiency. When parked, it can drop 2.8 inches to help people get in and out.<br/><br/>The QX80 has five driving modes that make the most of the power boost: Standard, Eco, Sport, Snow and Towing. If none of these suit your taste, there's a sixth mode for custom settings. Speaking of personalization, you can adjust the interior lighting with 64 colors shining through the LED lights in the doors and dashboard. Nine exterior colors are available at launch and you can choose wheels up to 22 inches in size. If you need to tow, the QX80 weighs 8,500 pounds.<br/><br/>The new QX80 is definitely more expensive than the previous model; significantly more in top-spec Autograph guise. By comparison, the BMW X7 fits right into the Infiniti's price range.
