Forbes Contributor Scotty Reiss (A Girls Guide to Cars) shows off the X Gran Berlinetta and Neolun, and explains the real reason concept cars are so important for brands.<br/><br/>The Genesis X Berlinetta concept is a piping hot orange colored Korean supercar. Created by Genesis for the Vision Gran Turismo series, this sleek coupe is powered by a hybrid V6 powertrain pumping out a total of 1071 hp and 986 lb-ft of torque. For anyone wanting to drive the X Berlinetta (virtually of course), just access Gran Turismo 7, as the car was added to the game in January.<br/><br/>The fully-electric Neolun (meaning “new moon”) is a big, hyper-luxurious SUV concept with a lavish two-row interior with front seats that swivel backward, but it could easily be a three-row machine if it reaches production.<br/><br/>Inside, the Neolun is full of ambitious features, only some of which would make it to a real-world model. Rotating seats and coach doors have been done before on other vehicles, but the radiant heating in the floor and the complete lack of a B-pillar are ambitious indeed. With the exception of 2021— when the Covid-19 pandemic disrupted the 2020 baseball season—it was the first time values increased less than 4% year over year since 2010.<br/><br/>The good news? Since Forbes first began doing valuations of MLB teams in 1998, when the average team was valued at $194 million, owning a team would have beaten inflation by more than five-fold and beaten the S&P 500 (excluding the reinvestment of dividends) by nearly double.<br/><br/>Revenue in MLB rose 10% in 2023, to an average of $378 million per team—the steepest increase since 2015. That increase was due to record ticket, merchandise, television and licensing revenue. But operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) only went up 6%, to an average of $19 million due to more spending on players, technology and analytics.<br/><br/>Forbes’ team valuations are enterprise values (equity plus net debt) based on historical transactions and the future economics of the sport and each team. Revenue and operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) are for the 2023 season and are net of revenue sharing, competitive balance taxes and stadium revenue used for debt service. Ownership stakes in regional sports networks, as well as related profits or losses, are excluded from our valuations and operating results, as are investments in real estate and other businesses. Drawing a big crowd at one of his events in Waycross, Georgia, Kevin wanted to pay tribute to their local services – and thankfully, no one was left disappointed. Kevin told FutureStudiosCars: “This truck, it’s a beast. It’s a race vehicle. So it’s really not a matter of if it breaks – it’s just when and how bad. With the stunt, we wanted to show our support for those guys, to salute our first responders. It landed real good and I was happy with it.” ‘Fluffy’ is powered by an impressive Chevy 565 engine. And Kevin is more than used to handling this sort of vehicle – known for his work with ‘Fluffy’ and another truck called ‘Strait Jacket’. “I’ve been doing this for so long now,” he said. “When we get into the truck, when we put that helmet on, there’s really no thought process. If you’re thinking about it all, you’re going to screw up. It’s just what we do.” And when discussing the name ‘Fluffy’, Kevin added: “A Monster Truck called ‘Fluffy’? “It’s like the manliest, toughest name in Monster Trucks!”")
